‘Why is this government bent on taking my life?’ – Captain Smart asks
Captain Smart says he does not understand “why is this government bent on taking my life?”
He says even though he is not afraid, it surprises him the level of intimidation the Akufo-Addo led government is channelling towards him.
Speaking on his show Thursday, October 20, 2022, Captain Smart noted his arrest yesterday made him realize his relevance in the country considering the senior security officers in the country who trooped to where he was being held.
“I realized I’m important than the president because all the security heads and their Capo’s came around one after the other to see me”, adding that even though “I’m not afraid” he reiterated “what does Nana Addo and his government want from me?”
Captain Smart suffered a rambo-styled arrest Wednesday, October 19, 2022, on his way home from work when officials from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) crossed him with three vehicles and a motorbike.
He got lost in sight from his colleagues who tried following the NIB because of how he was whisked away until he was later found at the Interrogation Centre of the Bureau following the intervention of the top management of the Media General Group.
The cause of his arrest according to comments he made Thursday morning is in relation to tagging the President as being actively involved in galamsey.
Captain Smart on the Monday edition of Maakye had said the President cannot absolve himself from the illegal mining canker which is destroying forest reserves and polluting water bodies.
According to Captain Smart, President Akufo-Addo is close to Chairman Wontumi who is actively involved in galamsey but cannot arrest him despite his supposed claim to be fighting illegal mining.
He was released around 11:20pm same day.
