Ashanti Regional Director of the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) Rashid Inusah has claimed that even though Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is on record to be the most accessible public figure by both high and low individuals, he is the cleanest politician in Ghana.
Passing commentary of recently aired expose by ace investigative journalist Anas that has cost minister of state at the Finance Ministry Charles Adu-Boahen his job, he wondered why the Vice Presidents integrity will be drawn into a situation like this when it was not warranted.
Charles Adu-Boahen was given the sack by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, when Anas Aremeyaw Anas latest exposé was viewed by the president where the minister is alleged to have used Vice President Bawumia’s name in influence peddling claiming he needed 200 thousand dollars as appearance fee.
Mr. Rashid Inusah who also communicates for the NPP noted on Ultimate FM that vice president Bawumia would not stoop low to indulge in such matters.
“The zero point of the matter started when the man told investors that, the Vice President is not like that. Let me tell you who the Vice President is… the Vice President Dr. Bawumia that I know, we both come from Walewale. I know him personally. Bawumia will never ever ask for anything from anybody to come and see him and nobody has ever done that”
“In 2018 it was researched that, the Vice President was the most seen public official, people from all walks of life go to see him and his doors were opened. In fact, at a point, it was even said the number of people who see him must be limited, because when you go to the president’s house there are no people, but when you go to the Vice President’s house you will see people from Monday to Sunday. There are always a lot of people in front of his gate and he will see all of them”, he revealed.
“That is exactly what the people of this country were doing. The man was seeing them; none of them have ever complained that somebody took one penny before they had access to the Veep because I have experienced it myself”, he emphasized
The HeFRA Boss maintains any calculated attempt by the opposition NDC to use the “galamsey economy” expose to talk down the integrity of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won’t wash and he has a robust character.
“The NDC is doing all it can to dent the image of this vice president, but it can never ever happen, because that man (Bawumia) is not a saint but close to, I am telling you because I know him personally, somebody who picked a phone, a sitting vice president of a country and called a CEO appointed by this government and begged, that is the humble nature of that man, who will do this?” he questioned.
“They will try everything that they want to do, it will never stick because this man is naturally clean, the vice president can never ever be close to corruption, they cannot get anything to tag him as corrupt vice president they can never get they are struggling but they will fail”
Background
The Minister of State at the Finance Ministry Charles Adu Boahen in a “galamsey economy” expose by Anas is said to have told the undercover investigators that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia needed $200,000 as an appearance fee before meeting with supposed businessmen.
The sacked Minister is also reported to have said that the Vice President would demand some positions from an investor for his siblings to get his backing and influence in establishing a business in Ghana.
“You mean, like appearance fees and stuff? I mean he, himself (the Vice President), if you give him some (USD) 200,000 or something as a token, as thank you, appreciation, that’s fine.
“He’s not really, he’s not really (like) that. All he needs is to worry about his campaign money in 2020,” Charles Adu Boahen is alleged to have said.
Meanwhile, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has denied reports linking him to demanding $200,000 as an “appearance fee.”
